FANCY DRAPES!

I got a big kick out of an e-mail that found its way to my in-box this morning… Someone else’s ears pricked up when President Obama mentioned “fancy drapes” in his speech Tuesday night! But instead of feeling uncomfortable about it, this wholesale window treatments company in Minneapolis decided to take Obama’s phrase and run with it!

Home-tex Fashions Inc. is having a “Fancy Drapes” sale from now through the end of March. Owners Albert and Mark Zubert say:

The sale is in response to President Obama’s remark [Tuesday] in his speech to a joint session of Congress, “This time, CEOs won’t be able to use taxpayer money to pad their paychecks or buy fancy drapes or disappear on a private jet. Those days are over.” He was apparently referring to the CEO who spent over $45,000 of company money on window treatments for his office suite in 2008 while his financial company was suffering huge losses

They end their e-mail patriotically with: “Buy ‘fancy drapes’ for your country! We’re all in this together.”

I might add: Yes we are!

Home-tex sent out materials to its customers saying, “Even ‘Average Joe’ can afford our ‘fancy drapes!’”
