ZABEL NEW PRESIDENT OF SPRINGS WINDOW FASHIONS
Springs Industries, Inc. announced that Ronald W. Zabel has joined the company as president of Springs Window Fashions Division, Inc., Middleton, WI, effective November 9, 1999. Zabel replaces James L. Dudas, who served as interim president of the division since June 1998 after retiring from Carrier Corp.
Zabel has nearly 34 years of experience in general management and consumer products working most recently as CEO of Worldwide Sports and Recreation. His background also includes work as division president for Sara Lee Corp. and Fruit of the Loom, two global leaders in consumer packaged products. He also has extensive experience in sales, marketing and distribution.
"We made great progress under Jim Dudas' leadership and thank him for the contributions he made to our company," said Stephen P. Kelbley, Springs Industries executive vice president and president of the Home Furnishings Operating Group. "[Zabel] will enhance and position our growing window business for the future," he added.
NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AT ADO
ADO, Spartanburg, SC, announces its new management team that will lead the company into the new millennium.
David Morgan, executive vice president, manufacturing, has been with ADO for only a year but has made the textile industry his career for more than 15 years. His textile expertise is in yarn manufacturing and all weaving aspects of the industry.
Helen Lawson, executive vice president, finance, has been with the company's accounting department for a total of 11 years. Through her hard work and dedication she has been promoted from controller to her present position.
Tammy Thompson, executive vice president, sales and marketing, has been with ADO for 10 years. She first joined the company as a customer service rep, was promoted to an outside sales agent, then later promoted to sales manager. She will travel with the company's sales agents to meet many of ADO's partners.
ZASTRO, KINCAID TAPPED FOR TRAVIS POSTS
Lyle Zastro has been named vice president of operations for Travis Industries, Tustin, CA. He will be responsible for running both the finishing plant and wood mill. The announcement was made at the same time the company announced it is under new management.
Robert Kincaid has been named to head sales and marketing. Kincaid is past owner of Craftsman Millworks, Inc., the wood slat vendor to Travis for the past seven years. Prior to that he was president of American Hardwood Co. Kincaid pioneered the design, manufacture and distribution of wood slats with M & B Miniblinds beginning in 1977.
NEIMAN REJOINS DANMER SHUTTERS
Ted Neiman has rejoined Danmer Custom Shutters, Chatsworth, CA. He fills the newly created position of vice president of wholesale sales and new product development. In his new role, Neiman will be responsible for managing and expanding the satellite customers who are fabricating Thermalite Shutters with extra assistance in manufacturing, marketing, sales and installation. He also will be researching new products and techniques in both shutters and other window coverings.
Neiman rejoins Danmer following a successful career with American Hardwood Co. where he served as director of shutter components division.
WINDOW FASHIONS INC. WELCOMES METZ, CRAIG
Window Fashions, Inc., Cheswick, PA, welcomes Lisa Metz and Michele Craig to its customer service department.
Metz brings more than nine years of secretarial and customer service experience to her new post.
Craig has more than five years experience in customer service.
ITA APPOINTS SELF
ITA, Inc., St. Augustine, FL, announces the appointment of Dennis Self as sales manager for the company's West Coast territory. He will manage sales of all ITA products in the territory that includes California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Idaho and British Columbia, Canada.
Self previously was a regional sales manager for BTX/Elero USA and prior to that was district manager for Mark Window Products. He has more than 20 years of sales and managerial experience in the window coverings industry.
GERSTENFELD PROMOTED AT FSC
Abraham Gerstenfeld has been promoted to the position of vice president, sales, FSC Home Interiors Group, New York, NY. In his new capacity, Gerstenfeld will be responsible for the FSC Home Interiors' independent dealer sales force and their territories.
Gerstenfeld started with F. Schumacher & Co. in 1972 as part of the sales training program. He trained with the Waverly Piece Goods Division, then moved to the Schumacher Division. He did his road training out of the Philadelphia, PA, showroom, afterwhich he was given a territory in the Boston, MA, area. He was transferred to the Wallcovering Division in 1975 and was promoted to Northeastern regional sales manager in 1986.
BLONDER NAMES WALTZ MARKETING MANAGER
Tricia A. Waltz has been named marketing manager of Blonder Wallcoverings, Randolph, MA.
Prior to joining the company Waltz was director of corporate affairs for a manufacturing company supplying products for the medical industry as well as education coordinator. She was liaison to shareholders and handled investor relations and corporate communications. Before that she designed and implemented sales and marketing programs.
SEABROOK APPOINTS HANRAHAN, TIDWELL
Seabrook, Memphis, TN, has hired two new account representatives.
Bill Hanrahan is the new contract account manager in Florida representing the area from Vero Beach to the Keys. He has 13 years of experience in the wall coverings industry.
Mark Tidwell has been named the new account representative for western Texas and New Mexico. He has 10 years of sales experience.
