Twas the end of the holidays when all through the store
Not a window coverings was stirring, not a tassel or more.
The samples were hung on their fixtures with care
In hopes that a customer soon would be there.
The tape measures and order forms were tucked neatly away
In hopes of being used on another fine day.
The decorator in her finest and I in my best
Had just settled in for a quiet day of rest.
When out by the door came the sounds of a bell
I jumped from my desk to see what I could sell.
To the front of the store I flew like a flash
Nearly tripping and falling so quick was my dash.
When what to my disappointing eyes should I see
It was only the postman with bills -- just for me.
One rent bill. One electric. One telephone, too.
There were flyers and catalogs and my
Draperies & Window Coverings -- ah, something to do!
I opened the pages with great anticipation
What a fine way to spend this day of contemplation.
As I looked through the contents, I was happy to see
There was lots of good reading just waiting for me.
I was reminded as well, there were plans to be made.
Send photos for Spotlight, do Orlando; had my subscription been paid?
Then I turn to the next page and laughed when I read
This funny little poem they had made up in their head.
With a smile on my face and good cheer in my heart
I realized in a minute what they wished to impart.
For you see, dear reader, our intent is quite clear:
Happy Holidays to you and a Prosperous New Year!
-- With apologies to Clement C. Moore and best wishes to you,
The staff of Draperies & Window Coverings
