Responses to the March www.DWConline.com poll show Facebook with a runaway lead as the industry’s most-used social networking site. Of course, this isn’t exclusive. It’s highly likely that most dealers, designers, workrooms and manufacturers are members of multiple sites (you can follow DWCEditorial on Twitter, for example), but we were interested in the one site used most.

Facebook is, perhaps, the most social of social networks getting its start in 2003 at Harvard University—and one of the largest with an estimated 140 million registered users. LinkedIn is known more generally as a business-oriented social networking site, and certainly has its followers—some 30 million by many accounts. Up-and-coming Twitter seems to have its devotees as well.

What’s missing here is of some note: MySpace, considered the largest of all social networks, did not get a single vote as used most often. Neither did Flickr, really a photo-sharing site and one used quite often in the industry; nor Plaxo, which seems to be giving LinkedIn a run as a business-oriented network site.

Under “Other,” one respondent supplied Merchants Circle, a business-promotion site that seems to concentrate on finding local customers for its members.
