RECORD TURNOUT FOR 4TH ANNUAL BLINDCRAFTERS CONVENTION
Nearly 200 BlindCrafters gathered for three days of networking, product workshops and business strategy seminars as Comfortex Corp., Maplewood, NY, held its fourth annual National BlindCrafter Convention June 7 to 9 in Las Vegas, NV. It was the largest turnout to date.
BlindCrafters from around the nation met at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino. Workshops and seminars included discussions on the future of the BlindCrafter brand and fabrication and sales details for the newest lines of window treatments from Comfortex. Marketing strategies emphasized several new programs including BlindCrafters University, a new program that offers dealers professional courses on how to improve business.
ELEMENTS OF SOFT TREATMENTS RELEASED
Precision Draperies Education, Westminster, CO, has released its third publication, Elements of Soft Treatments.
The purpose of this book, the company states, is to give the interior designers a basic understanding of the elements that make up many types of window coverings and soft furnishings so they can understand the mechanics of putting together a custom soft treatment. The book has more than 1,500 drawings and more than 330 pages.
Elements of Soft Treatments introduces the principles behind drapery construction together with complementing soft furnishing accessories. Its pages also explore various drapery and soft shade styles and helps designers understand the most common soft furnishing accessories.
COMPREHENSIVE SHADE HOW-TO GUIDE EXPECTED
A how-to guide for successfully selling designer level custom Roman shades, woven woods, solar shades and other challenging treatments will be made available through limited release by late summer. The guide is produced by Superior Roman Shades, Burbank, CA.
The guide is aimed at addressing the numerous costly but easily avoidable mistakes made by dealers selling challenging treatments including choosing the right style and material for an application, which linings to use, how certain fabrics and patterns will react in different styles, which materials are best for smaller versus larger shades, the pros and cons of different lift systems, under quoting jobs, insufficient knowledge of motorization, proper measuring and installation techniques.
The guide is designed for those new to these products, but is also loaded with useful tips for the most experienced designer that will make them more profitable, according to the company.
M'FAY INTRODUCES NEW COLLECTION FOR DESIGNERS
M’Fay Patterns, Matthews, NC, has released the Portfolio Collection for designers who have been asking for a book that provides all of the same designs and cover sheets found in its Designer’s Digest & Workroom Manual but without the workroom instructions.
The collection contains more than 575 pages with more than 550 designs. The Portfolio Collection also is available on CD for designers who would rather use a laptop than a book. Each version is sold separately.
