Gulf Coast Window Covering, Houston, TX, held a grand opening for its new, state-of-the-art facility at the end of February. The 83,000-square-foot facility on more than six acres had taken several years of planning and consolidates operations that had been housed in five separate buildings since 1979. The new facility also provides the full-line Hunter Douglas fabricator with 30,000 more square feet of space and almost three additional acres.
“The move has been well worth the effort,” said Bill Gaul,
Gulf Coast Window Covering president and CEO, in remarks delivered
the afternoon of February 26. “By consolidating all our operations
under one roof, we can operate more efficiently. The office now
comprises 17,000 square feet and includes an expanded customer service
call center; sales, marketing, credit and accounting areas; a beautiful
Window Fashions Gallery showroom; and several dealer training facilities.
The 66,000 square feet of manufacturing space allows us to produce
additional product lines, including the Heritance® hardwood
shutters from Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, and increases overall
Along with the new facility, Gulf Coast also introduced its new
company logo, a contemporary design incorporating a three-dimensional
look with a window, blind slats and tassel.
Special guests attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony and new plant
tour including Marv Hopkins, president and CEO, Hunter Douglas Window
Fashions; Bob Kopf, president, Hunter Douglas Independent Fabricator
Group; Jim Bennett, vice president of sales, Hunter Douglas Independent
Fabricator Group; Tim Turner, regional sales manager, Hunter Douglas
Independent Fabricator Group; Andrew Nazari, Hunter Douglas director
of engineering services; Ron Spies, Hunter Douglas vice president
of customer education and development; and Wendy Kayser, regional
program manager for Hunter Douglas.
Houston Mayor Bill White named the day Gulf Coast Window Covering
day in the City of Houston.
DECADES OF SERVICE
Gulf Coast Window Covering began more than 52 years ago as a shade,
floor covering, countertop and blind retail business. It now is
the largest window coverings fabricator in the Southwest and has
been a full-line fabricator of Hunter Douglas Window Fashions for
the past 15 years. It employs 240, whose commitment the company
recognizes as essential to its growth and success.
Gulf Coast has been under the same management and ownership for
nearly 30 years, which provides continuity and stability that few
companies can boast today.
