CPFILMS FORMS BRANDED SHADE DIVISION
CPFilms Inc., Martinsville, VA, is launching its own branded shade
division: Halcyon™ Shades.
The new division will initially target the commercial, small business,
retail and office markets, later expanding to include residential,
institutional and hospitality industries. Utilizing the company’s
innovative film technology, Halcyon Shades are pull-down, interior,
transparent window shades designed to reduce energy costs, eliminate
glare, protect against ultraviolet rays, provide interior fade protection
of furnishings, preserve privacy and maintain a view of the outside.
The company’s existing brands are films and precision-coated
products, while Halcyon Shades is its first complete line of finished

HUNTER DOUGLAS SETS SOLUTIONS SCHEDULE
Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, Upper Saddle River, NJ, in conjunction
with its fabricator base, has announced its newest educational program:
Solutions, a regional trade fair to educate dealers on products, profits,
service and sales.
Solutions trade fairs will be held in several cities across the country
and Canada beginning this spring and running through September. U.S.
cities include Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Phoenix, AZ; and Anaheim,
CA. In Canada, Solutions is scheduled for Toronto, ON; Calgary, AB;
and Vancouver, BC.
The program will offer classes and training sessions in areas such
as color, design, sales and presentations, marketing, new business-building
technology and the latest Hunter Douglas products.
TRIMLAND MOVES TO LARGER FACILITY
In order to accommodate high demand, Trimland USA, Deer Park, NY,
moved into a 45,000-square-foot showroom and warehouse in April. The

POLYDESIGN INTRODUCES BLOCK SHUTTER
PolyDesign Shutters, Tarrant, AL, has introduced its new PolyDesign
Block shutter, which combines the company’s original shutter
with the concept of block windows. The product is marketed as an option
for bathroom windows or areas where customers desire light combined
The panels are made of a solid cellular synthetic material offered
painted in six colors. The units are framed with the company’s
matching shutter framing systems.
LEG TO OFFER MOTORIZED
Effective early this summer, LEG Motorized Systems, North Miami Beach,
FL, will begin fabricating its own motorized vertical rail system,
the company says.
The new rail will use LEG’s existing drapery motor, which will
be converted to fit on the end of the rail. The new motorized system
will traverse and rotate and will operate through all of the company’s
present controls. In addition, the new system and its controls will
integrate into all the other systems LEG now fabricates.
To start with, only one type of motorized vertical rail will be offered
in a white painted finish to match the company’s present line
of drapery rails and tubes for lift systems.
By late this year, LEG expects to complete UL testing on a new motor
that will have push-button limits for both the vertical rail and the
IGI CONGRESS SET FOR CAPRI
IGI, the International Wallcoverings Association, Brussels, Belgium,
has slated its Annual Congress for May 10 to 13 at the Grand Hotel
Quisisana in Capri, Italy.
The IGI 53rd Congress will offer opportunities to expand relationships
and to develop a more global perspective on the wall coverings industry.
It provides a unique environment to share best practices, understand
market trends and to network with the leaders of the global wall coverings
Some of this year’s topics will highlight D-I-Y retailing, color
and fashion trends, statistics and market reports for 2002, and will
include an associate members’ display area.
IGA is a worldwide not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing
the ability of wall covering industry members to solve their business
problems by providing a forum for discussion, disseminating information
and representing the industry before government and standards bodies.

CACO EXPANDS MANUFACTURING FACILITY
CACO, Inc. Window Fashions, Johnson City, TN, recently expanded its
contract and retail aluminum horizontal blind, vertical and shade
production and manufacturing facility an additional 26,000 square
feet. With the expansion, CACO has the capability to more than double
its production of those products.
CACO soon will add to its contract and retail horizontal aluminum
blind product line, Summit, a product that offers the valance-less
feature in a one-inch mini-, privacy and micro-blind.
