SUPERIOR ROMAN SHADES PARTNERS WITH MAJOR FABRIC LINES
Southern California based Superior Roman Shades™ has announced partnerships
with major fabric suppliers to expand its offering of Roman shade fabrics. Superior’s
dealers will be able to offer custom Roman shades from the entire lines of Waverly,
KasLen and Fabricut without treating them as COM goods. These lines are in addition
to Superior’s 300 in-house SKUs.
In addition, dealers may order cut yardage directly from Superior. “We
have developed a system that allows our dealers to instantly price our Roman
shades in any fabric from these lines, while eliminating the additional steps
traditionally involved in using a COM. No longer will dealers have to order the
fabric separately, pay shipping to our facility, pay two separate invoices or
figure yardage. It’s a real time and money saver for everyone,” says
spokesperson Roger Gold.
Superior is in negotiations with other major fabric suppliers and should be adding
more lines soon.
TENTINA CELEBRATES MILESTONE WITH NEW LOOK, SLOGAN
Tentina Window Fashions, Inc., Lindenhurst, NY, is celebrating 40 years in business.
It has updated its corporate identity with a new company logo and accompanying
service-marked tag line: “Service that drives success.”
The new logo, created by Che-Noble Advertising, New York, NY, incorporates the
suggestion of the glimmering sun, an image used on Tentina’s previous logos.
It was chosen by the privately held company’s board of directors, composed
entirely of family members. “We concluded that this contemporary design
establishes a fresh, forward-looking image for our company while maintaining
a sense of continuity and integrity,” said Andrea Miritello, vice president.
Tentina was established in 1963 by Frank Miritello and two business partners.
It began as a small company specializing in wood slats woven with fancy yarns
for the window treatment industry. It moved to its present location in 1972.
Tentina began fabricating Hunter Douglas window treatments in 1987, a relationship
that continues today. The company employs more than 100 people and fabricates

DEALER TAKES CHILD SAFETY SERIOUSLY
The Blind Man, Albuquerque, NM, used the grand opening of its Hunter Douglas
Window Fashions Gallery® to take child safety a step further. In late 2002,
the store hosted a KinderVision® child safety community service event, which
included a seminar and demonstration on child safety.
Dozens of parents and their children from the greater Albuquerque area attended
the event. Participating families received a free KinderVision child safety education
video, and store representatives reviewed “Child Safety For Your Home,” a
brochure available from Hunter Douglas that outlines 23 action steps consumers
can take to help make their homes safer for children. Parents then were given
the opportunity to examine several samples of window coverings that are designed
with safety in mind.
Representatives from KinderVision, a national child safety education program,
were present to discuss child safety, hand out informational fliers and provide
other services to ensure child safety, including having children fingerprinted
and videotaped, tools authorities use should a child ever become lost. Enforcement
officials and child actors demonstrated various safety techniques.
