When you think of an absolutely, top-of-line, high-end window treatment you may think many things, but a motorized treatment is sure to part of it. Motorized window coverings are the answer to so many situations: the ultimate in safety, convenience and “cool” factor.

This month we offer a Milwaukee dealer who specializes in solving motorization challenges, a luxury hotel that has upgraded its suites with simple-to-use motorized treatments, and an industry insider who looks ahead to find gold at the end of the technology rainbow.

Problem Solved
When it comes to motorized solutions for challenging projects, Res-Com Window Solutions finds the answer. From corporate boardrooms to high-end homes, the company specializes in getting things moving.

Suite and Simple
When Chicago’s Swissôtel redesigned and upgraded a number of its rooms, it added motorized window treatments to five duplex suites with two-story windows treated with sheers layered beneath blackout-lined draperies. The goal was to add new prestige and luxury to the rooms in keeping with the hotel's image, yet keep the whole system simple enough for anyone to operate.

A Pot of Gold
The first electric motors for household appliances appeared around 1910, but it took 10 years before they were marketable in price and technology, notes Jon Vrielink of BTX, Inc. Window treatment motorization has moved beyond this turning point as well. In this Guest Editorial, Vrielink says new markets, and new earnings, await dealers as motorization moves into its next phase.
