Eclipse Blind Systems Inc., Ravenna, OH, and Scientific Plastics Inc., Miami Lakes, FL, have been acquired by Astra Products, Ltd., Ravenna.
Eclipse will trade as Astra Products, Ltd. and continue to offer the full range of PVC and fabrics for vertical blinds, as well as roller shade fabrics and components. Scientific Plastics will continue to function as a specialist supplier of vertical components and will trade under the name of Scientific Plastics, Ltd. Existing management will remain with the business.
The acquisition means the combined businesses are now independent of the Eclipse Group in the United Kingdom and will be able to make their own decisions about how best to meet customer needs. Astra has already started the process of implementing ISO-9001 and lean manufacturing principles in order to improve both quality and service to its customers.
