BOSTON SHOW UPBEAT DESPITE CONCERNS

53rd Boston Curtain & Drapery Show

December, 2001

Despite recent world events and questions about the U.S. economy, the 53rd Boston Curtain & Drapery Show, held October 26 to 28 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI, was upbeat with a positive, business-as-usual feeling among buyers and designers, according to show producers Messe Frankfurt, Inc. and Window Fashions magazine.

This year's show welcomed 36 exhibitors offering a mix of products including hard and soft window coverings, shades, blinds, shutters, fabrics, trimmings, wallpaper, machinery and decorative accessories, show producers say. More than 755 buyers and designers attended from the New England states, New York and New Jersey.

The number of exhibitors and attendees this year was down by 28 and 25 percent, respectively, from last year when the show was moved from March to October. (See D&WC, January 2001, page 17.)

Dates for the 54th edition of the show in 2002 are to be announced by the end of the year.
