A recent shortage of American flags did not stop one Florida company from showing its patriotic spirit. Modern Venetian Blind Corp., West Palm Beach, FL, assembled a huge vertical blind in the form of an American flag, which it is displaying in its showroom window.
"We wanted to display the American flag day and night, rain or shine," explains Cynthia Hall Othus, president. "We looked for window flags and car flags, but every one was sold out. That's when we decided to do what we do best—make a window blind that looks like a flag.
"It was a lot of work, but it was worth it," continues Othus. "Making the flag brought us all together and lifted our spirits. Our neighbors and customers love it, and every once in a while a passing motorist honks and waves."
