Creative Cornices by Barron Designs

December, 2001

Ruth and Steve Barron, Creative Cornices by Barron Designs, Huntington Station, NY, created and auctioned off an American flag wall sculpture benefiting AmeriCares for the victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attack.

Titled, "The Patriot," the wall sculpture is five feet wide by three feet high. It was made by hand by wrapping yarns and threads together to make special cords called "windings." It is made of silks and cottons, the same materials the Barrons use in creating their window treatments, and each star was hand embroidered.

Doug Acker, president of United Chimney Corp. in Bohemia, NY, placed the highest bid.
