ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES AT HUNTER DOUGLAS DIVISION

Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Division, Bloomfield, CO, has announced several organizational and management changes.

Todd Steele, formerly vice president of the Honeycomb Business Unit has been named vice president of a new business unit that will support a new window coverings concept development. He has devoted 22 years to the Window Fashions Division serving in many capacities and has been with the honeycomb products since their inception.

A newly created Product Development Business Unit combines the company’s Special Projects Group with key personnel from the New Products Business Unit. Joe Kovach, formerly vice president of Special Projects, has been promoted to vice president of this unit. He is a 16-year employee who has made significant contributions to the development of new window fashions products.

Beth Hunt, who has led the New Products Business Unit for the past two years, has taken on the assignment of helping the division market new technologies as vice president of Business Development. Previously she was vice president/business director of the Performance Fabrics Division for Burlington Industries, Greensboro, NC.

Sheryl Wisecup has been promoted to vice president of the Honeycomb Business Unit replacing Steele. She has served most recently as director of marketing for the unit. She came to Hunter Douglas from Samsonite, Denver, CO, where she was product manager.


KENNY JOINS BTX CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM

BTX, Dallas, TX, has appointed Nancy Kenny to the position of traffic coordinator in the BTX customer service department. Kenny joins Navarro Fisher and Jennifer Hamilton to make a solid customer service team for the fast growing market of window coverings automation.

As coordinator between the customer and the BTX sales team and technology departments, Kenny will help ensure the customer’s needs are met promptly and to the fullest. The BTX customer service team specializes in consulting its customer base in the selection and execution of custom solutions for systems and controls that match its exact needs.


IMPERIAL HOME DECOR GROUP NAMES GREEN PRESIDENT, CEO

Eliot Green has been named as successor to Doug Kelly former president and CEO of the Imperial Home Décor Group, Inc. (IHDG), Cleveland, OH. In July, Kelly announced he would vacate both his position on the board of directors and within the IHDG organization.

Green has been a member of IHDG’s board of directors for the past three years and also is president of EIG Management, Inc., a Boca Raton, FL-based firm that specializes in interim management and consulting.

Kelly joined IHDG in May 2000 and successfully led the company through a Chapter 11 restructuring and operational rationalization.


MOODY JOINS TECHNIKU SALES TEAM

Techniku, Inc., Broomfield, CO, announces the addition of Scott Moody as its new Western Region Sales Manager. He will be responsible for sales and support for the company’s customers located across the Midwest, Northwest and Southwest territories.

Based in Dallas, TX, Moody joins Techniku with a strong sales and marketing background in the medical equipment industry. Previously with STI Medical he was the Midwest Regional Sales Manager.


LUTRON’S SPIRA RECEIVES HONORY DEGREE

Joel S. Spira, founder and chairman of Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., Coopersburg, PA, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Engineering Degree from Purdue University. The degree was awarded at Purdue’s May commencement exercises at its West Lafayette, IN, campus.

A 1948 graduate of Purdue, Spira earned a bachelor’s degree in physics, as well as Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Spira is also a member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering.


HFPA ANNOUNCES HOMETEX AWARD HONOREES

The Home Fashion Products Association (HFPA) has announced the slate of honorees for its annual HomeTex Design Awards. A gala ceremony will be held later this month at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.

The honorees are: Janet Barragan, vice president, CHF Industries; The Echo Design Group, Inc.; Michael Fux, president and CEO, Sleep Innovations Inc.; and Megan Tamaccio, design director, Disney Home, WestPoint Stevens Inc.

According to HomeTex Award Chairman, Robert Dale (WestPoint Stevens), “All the honorees have made a tremendous impact in the design and marketing of home textiles.”

The HomeTex Design Award honors design professionals who have made a creative or innovative impact to design and development in the home textiles industry.

HFPA also announces that industry veteran Park B. Smith, president, Park B. Smith, Inc., will be honored with the organization’s highest honor, the Paradigm Award. The award recognizes an individual whose distinguished achievement and excellence in innovative merchandising and marketing of home textiles has set a standard in the industry.

In selecting Smith for this award, Dale stated, “Park’s dedication to and love of our industry is unparalleled. He is a true leader in the business and a terrific role model for those who have worked beside him.”

The Paradigm Award was first awarded in 1996.


PARDO NAMED DIRECTOR AT COVINGTON CONTRACT

Maria T. Pardo, a vice president of Covington Industries Inc. and the national sales manager of Covington Industrial Contract, has been named to direct Covington Industries Contract, New York, NY. In this capacity she will oversee sales, product development and merchandising of fabrics for the specialized hospitality and health care industries.

Pardo began her textile business career in the late 1970s at WestPoint Pepperell/J. P. Stevens in its international sales division. In the late 1980s she was named export manager at Hoffman Mills and later director of international sales at Covington Fabrics.

Covington Industries Contract supplies both printed and woven fabrics that meet technical contract specifications. In addition, the department has the capability of producing custom fabrics to meet specifier requirements.
