CONLEY TAKES KIRSCH DESIGNER OF YEAR CONTEST

Kirsch, High Point, NC, has announced Melinda Conley, Allied Affiliate ASID, Fine Designs & Interiors, Ltd., London, OH, the winner of the Gallery Kirsch Designer of the Year contest.

Conley won first place for her Teacup design. This elegant cup-shaped finial will be included in the 2004 Kirsch drapery hardware collection.

The Gallery Kirsch Designer of the Year contest recognizes designers whose work reflects the innovation and elegance that defines the Kirsch brand (see D&WC, October 2002). This year’s entries were judged by a distinguished panel including designer Raymond Waites and Don Bowden, president of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

All designs were judged on the following criteria: originality and innovation; design that defines elegance; production feasibility/ease of manufacturing; and applicable to a current home décor style.

Awards of Excellence were given to five runners up in this year’s competition: Second place was presented to Tonya Corner, Laurel, MD; third place to Diana Januska, North Ridgeville, OH; fourth place to Barbara Holley, Bryan, TX; fifth place to Melinda Conley for a second design she entered; and sixth place to Shanna Neims, Bremerton, WA..
