Looking Ahead to March

Thousands are expected to attend the International Window Coverings Expo in Baltimore.

The International Window Coverings Expo may be five months away, but many are making plans now to attend this global event for the window coverings industry. The International Window Coverings Expo will be held March 18 to 22, 1998, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD -- an ideal location to draw attendees from around the world.

Co-sponsors Window Fashions magazine and Messe Frankfurt, Inc., producers of past international window coverings trade shows, project nearly 10,000 attendees from the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and Asia to take advantage of this international window coverings venue.

The trade show floor, open March 20 and 22, is expected to contain products and displays from about 250 exhibitors featuring hard and soft window coverings; decorative hardware; shading systems; motorization; fabrics and textile products; decorative accents and accessories; workroom supplies and equipment; manufacturing equipment; awnings and exterior products; wall coverings; computer technology; merchandising and sales tools; and floor coverings and area rugs.

Internationally and nationally renowned speakers also will participate in the International Window Coverings Expo seminar program spanning March 18 to 21. Dozens of CEU-accredited seminars will be offered through the Window Fashions Certified Professionals[TM] (WFCP) Program. The program, also co-sponsored by Window Fashions magazine and Messe Frankfurt, will include topics such as window fashion design; interior design trends; executive business seminars; installation; workroom fabrication, equipment and tools; computers; motorization; and international design and business.

Many associations are scheduling national meetings in conjunction with the event. One association in particular stands to gain for its cause, namely the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) and its mission to educate the public about the dangers of loop cords and other window coverings safety issues.

Attendees and exhibitors will have a chance to purchase raffle tickets for a special prize (to be announced) to be given away during the International Window Coverings Expo. The proceeds of the raffle will go to the WCSC and its efforts.

Other special events and entertainment options will be available for attendees and exhibitors to help them enjoy their visit to the International Window Coverings Expo and Baltimore, the host city, such as the 13th annual Window Fashions Design Competition Awards and the WCMA Product Awards Ceremony. Attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to bring as many business cards as possible to pass out during networking events and while doing business on the show floor.
