The 1999 Boston Curtain & Drapery Show moves to Providence, RI.

The 51st edition of the Boston Curtain & Drapery Show was held this year at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, RI. The change of venue was intended to expand the show's draw, and according to the show's co-organizers, Messe Frankfurt, Inc. and Window Fashions magazine, it worked. Messe Frankfurt reports a strong mix of buyers and designers from all over New England as well as from New York City, upstate New York and Connecticut.
The change proved positive for many of the 56 exhibitors at the regional show held March 6 to 7. Overall, some 1,300 attendees from five countries participated, with the majority of buyers and designers coming from the northeastern region of the United States, according to show organizers. Exhibitors displayed a wide variety of their newest lines including hard and soft window treatments, decorative accessories, blinds, shades, shutters, motorization products, fabrics, textile products, wall coverings, awnings and workroom supplies. Michael Dibiase, chief of staff from Rhode Island's governor's office, welcomed the group to Providence at a networking luncheon where designers, store owners and faculty met to share ideas and solutions to their business problems. For 2000, the Boston Curtain & Drapery Show, co-sponsored by the Boston Curtain and Drapery Club, returns to Providence, but moves from spring to fall. The show is scheduled for October 14 to 15. |
