Wallpapering For Charity

The National Guild of Professional Paperhangers extends its efforts to help others.

Recently the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers (NGPP) executed two charity hangs, annual events in which guild members proudly provide help and expertise to create new surroundings for government and social agencies offering services to local communities. One was in Tampa, FL at the Audrey Spotford Youth and Community Development Center, a center for education and activities to foster entrepreneurial skills in youth and young adults, located in the neighborhoods of Belmont Heights and Jackson Heights. The Bay Area Chapter of NGPP enlisted volunteer hangers from Indiana, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Bayonet Point, Naples, Stuart and Tallahassee, FL, to create, in four days' time, a personal, decorative and warm touch to a beautiful new building. Products and materials for the team effort were donated by Gardner-Gibson, Imperial Home Décor Group, OMNOVA Solutions, Roman Adhesives, Wm. Zinsset & Co., Wolf Gordon Wallcoverings, Work Tools International and John and Susan Sykes. In central San Jose, CA, the Clover House and Monroe House complex, which is run by the Santa Clara County Department of Family & Children's Services received a welcomed facelift from the Northern California Chapter of NGPP. The complex provides homey settings for children to visit with family members. Imperial Home Décor Group and Scotch Paints donated materials to install 65 rolls of children-themed borders. Linda McCormick, the Clover House Supervisor, was pleased to have a more intimate and homey environment. Her staff provided breakfast and lunch. From both projects, the volunteers doing the hanging were the following NGPP members: Ben Alley, Gerri Beauvais, Charlene and Billy Bishop, Jean Boles, James Catagirone, Susie Conklin, Becky and Larry Duval, Margaret Everson, Donald Foreman, Linda and Bill Harbour, Lauretta Jenkins, Michael Keith, Barry Meltzer, Louis Melovich, Pat Niehaus, J. Edward St. Peters, Bob Trujillo, Mike Tust, Earl Wanbaugh, Lillian Weist, Roberta Welk, Susan Williams and Joe and Mike Weston. About NGPP The National Guild of Professional Paperhangers is the only organization devoted exclusively to the needs and interests of wall covering installation professionals. Founded in 1974, NGPP has steadily grown in membership and benefits, resources and influence within the wall coverings industry. Today, NGPP has nearly 40 chapters across the country. Nearly 1,000 industry members belong to NGPP and membership continues to grow. The opportunities for members are unlimited. Membership allows investment in the profession and holds the wall covering industry to new standards. Its code of ethics is a strong statement of what it is and what it stands for. Members of NGPP are part of a proud tradition in an active organization that constantly works for the betterment of professional paperhangers and the entire wall coverings industry. Members get to meet fellow craftspeople and suppliers, learn about new products and techniques, see live demonstrations and benefit from the skills and experience of outstanding industry leaders. Members are asked to share their ideas and knowledge with professional peers to make the industry even more productive. Members also learn how to promote and run a successful paperhanging business, even in the toughest of times.

CODE OF ETHICS

As an expression of the principles of proper conduct in the pursuit of its craft, NGPP members, employees, and the organization will strive : • To provide the services of this industry to the fullest extent of our technical abilities. • To protect the public and fellow members from materials not meeting our high standards. • To faithfully fulfill all contracts. • To conduct ourselves in accordance with the highest of professional standards. • To keep abreast of changing conditions in materials, installation techniques and economic conditions. • To encourage the free exchange of ideas and opinions. • To meet regularly with members and non-members to promote the precepts of this code. • To promote the fair and equal treatment for all Guild members. • To oppose any discriminatory practices. • To provide opportunities for further training, employment and advancement to all those who show an interest and apply themselves to our craft. • To promote the principles and spirit of this code and the objectives of this Guild through the formation of councils and chapters. • To establish and maintain the highest levels of mutual respect and goodwill with all segments of this industry. • To keep in mind the definition of a Guild: "an alliance of artisans."
