SCIENTIFIC PLASTICS JOINS ECLIPSE GROUP Eclipse Blind Systems, Ravenna, OH, announces that Scientific Plastics, Inc., Miami, FL, has become part of the Eclipse Group. This new relationship is seen as a positive move for Eclipse Blind Systems, a well established manufacturer of fabric PVC vertical blinds. KIRSCH LICENSES RAYMOND WAITES COLLECTION Kirsch, Freeport, IL, has formed a license agreement with Raymond Waites Design, Inc. and plans to introduce its first Raymond Waites drapery hardware collection at the International Window Coverings Expo in Atlanta, GA. The exclusive Raymond Waites Kirsch Signature Series Collection features newly designed finishes and sculpted accessories. Raymond Waites, designer, president and CEO of Raymond Waites Design, Inc., is recognized as the pioneering force behind the Vintage Decoration movement in design. His signature style is mixing the opulent with the humble to create timeless looks with casual elegance. Waites currently designs a broad range of furnishings including bedding, wall coverings, furniture, area rugs, lamps, ceramics, framed art and other accessories. He has formed alliances with 20 other companies in the home furnishings industry. HUNTER DOUGLAS, DESIGN SHOJI GARNER DESIGN AWARD Two products manufactured by Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, Upper Saddle River, NJ, were named winners in the Third Annual ADEX Awards, sponsored by The Design Journal. The Award for Design Excellence (ADEX) recognizes the superior product design of furnishings marketed to the architectural and design trade. The Nantucket[TM] Collection of Silhouette® window shadings and the Millenia[TM] custom vertical blinds with the Paramount[TM] contoured headrail system were selected out of 1,600 entries based on their design, function and style. Design Shoji, Ukiah, CA, also received an ADEX award. The company's batiked shoji panels were honored, which feature batiked insert forms in classic shoji screens so as light passes through the dyed colors become more brillant. DÖFIX SCHEDULES WORKROOM SEMINARS Five full-day hands-on seminars for drapery workrooms have been scheduled by döfix No*Sew, Inc., Sanford, MI. The seminars are scheduled for late April and early May in Omaha, NE; Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; Tulsa, OK; and St. Louis, MO. The seminars provide an opportunity for attendees to learn progressive fabricating techniques using iron-on products available from döfix. The seminars are designed to increase quality while making workrooms more productive. The limited seating is offered on a first come/first served basis. EURO LINENS WEST, STEVEN DREW MERGE Euro Linens West and Steven Drew Collection, Los Angeles, CA, have merged to form Steven Drew International. Euro Linens West, created eight years ago, has been a subsidy of a larger family-owned company and with the merger will remain a separate division that will continue to sell fabric by the yard to home furnishings and wall covering manufacturers as well as to interior designers. Steven Drew Collection was formed in 1997. Its owner, Steven Drew Auerbach, has been associated with several luxury linen lines over the past 12 years through his private consulting firm and through working with such manufacturers as Ralph Lauren and Scandia Down.
