D&WC: Please give a detailed description of your company.
Nancy Ricci: Ricci Tools Inc. was founded in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, by Ferdnando Ricci in 1969. The company originally specialized in tool and die fabrication. Eventually, this specialization broadened into the fabrication of molds for plastic injection and then broadened further into the manufacturing of different types of plastic and metal parts. In 1989, Ricci Tools Inc. first began molding components for the vertical blind industry. In 1992, a second office, Vertisystem Inc., was established in Mississauga, Ontario, for the purpose of further distributing this line of vertical blind components. Today, Ricci Tools Inc. is located in the east end of the city of Montreal and employs approximately 30 people. D&WC: What window coverings products did you handle initially? What products do you handle today? Ricci: Ricci Tools Inc. began and continues to offer an ever broadening line of vertical blind components. The line is constantly being updated and improved, and new and innovative products are added regularly. Along with the complete line of vertical blind components, including all accessories, Ricci Tools Inc. also offers components for horizontal blind systems. D&WC: What distinguishes you from the competition? Ricci: What most distinguishes Ricci Tools Inc. from the competition is a high quality product and technical expertise. Sophisticated designs and technology, automatic machinery, as well as intensive knowledge of injection molding techniques, enable Ricci Tools Inc. to offer an attractive and highly functional product. In order to maintain high quality specifications for its product, Ricci Tools Inc. chose to implement a quality control program, based on the requirements of the International Standards Organization. Ricci Tools Inc. was certified ISO-9002 in December 1995. D&WC: Do you offer any other products? Ricci: Besides vertical blind components, Ricci Tools Inc. manufactures a variety of products for the window and door industry. We also offer complete services for the injection and extrusion of engineering plastics as well as the stamping of metal parts. D&WC: Do you work through distributors or sell direct to the retailer? Its affiliate company, Vertisystem Inc., in Mississauga, run by Tony Marzilli, usually sells directly to retailers.
