IFU: At the Forefront of Education

by Carolyn Silberman

Draperies & Window Coverings is at the forefront of the industry once again. In March, at the annual International Window Coverings Expo, Interior Fashions University (IFU) will be the host to four of the industry's most influential speakers. Everyone who visits the show is invited to attend these brand new seminars. Ten different, information-packed, one-hour seminars will be presented at the Draperies & Window Coverings booth. This program is offered at no cost to you because it is in celebration of you. That's right. This is Draperies & Window Coverings' way of saying "Thank You" for more than 17 years of loyal support. Whether you are a subscriber or an advertiser, our gratitude is unconditional.

Through Interior Fashions University we were able to research what type of seminars you would like to take but have never seen offered. You could say it was a bit of a wish list, but with the help of four outstanding women in our field, we were able to make it happen. Let's take a look at our four veteran industry speakers and a sampling of their credentials. (See Cover Story for more information.)

Karla Nielson, Allied Member, ASID, IDEC, WCAA, Assistant Professor, Brigham Young University.

Cheryl Strickland, WCAA, Owner, Professional Drapery School, and internationally acclaimed speaker.

Kay Pegram, Owner, Kaymar Communications, Master's degree from Harvard, MBA from UCLA, and BA degree from the University of California.

Kitty Stein, WCAA, Owner, Workroom Concepts, a 20-plus year veteran of the drapery workroom field.

We hope you will see for yourself why these women are the crème de la crème. Make it a point to fit these free seminars into your schedule. If you can't make it to a session, at least stop by and meet the speakers. Each of them is a published author and will have copies of her books on display.

The seminar topics will cover a range from "Marketing in a New Millennium" to "Workroom Quality Standards" and "Design for the 21st Century." You can find the IFU schedule of events and times by clicking here. If you have a pass that gets you on the show floor you won't want to miss this free event. I guarantee it will be the most talked about event of the show. We would like to extend a big thank you to Levolor Home Fashions, Kirsch and Comfortex who are sponsoring the IFU speakers.

Don't forget-following our theme of preparing for business in the new millennium, Draperies & Window Coverings once again will be the host at our Internet Café. You have my personal invitation to stop by for some coffee and surf the Internet. If you aren't a regular Internet browser this is a great chance to see what it is all about. See you in Atlanta!
