Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, Upper Saddle River, NJ, has taken a step forward to eliminate loose, free-hanging cord loops in which young children can become entangled. The Cord Tensioner is a safety device specificaly designed for continuous loop systems. It keeps cord loops taut using spring tension with specially designed cord weight and bracket. Now standard on all Hunter Douglas products and available as a retro fit kit.

The Perfect-Safe[TM] tassel (PS-15A) and cord cleat (CC-3/4) from Rainbow Industrial Inc., Anaheim, CA, are helpful for meeting recent child safety guidelines and requirements for blind safety. The tassel attaches at any height along a split chain draw cord. The cord cleat, in turn, locks the cord weight safely onto the window frame or drywall.

The cord release from EZ Release, Inc., Sacramento, CA, eliminates the hazards of window coverings with multiple loose cords. It allows one cord to operate two- to four-cord window coverings and breaks the loop that has contributed to child injuries.

Benthin Systems, Sewickley, PA, offers the Decomatic Cord Guard, a plastic guard that covers exposed window covering cords and eliminates the risks of strangulation to small children and pets. Its subtle, sleek design blends with vertical blinds for a virtually unnoticeable appearance. It also eliminates clutter when using tiebacks or clips. Safe and easy to use cord guards are available separately for use on existing blinds or pre-installed on complete vertical blind systems.

Allied/All-Teck's LASERlite Syncromatic headrail eliminates the hazards of exposed cords and chain loops. It is entirely safe and easy to operate. Both the traversing of vanes and rotation is controlled by the same wand and can be operated from a stationary position.
