Statistics show that home owners redecorate, on average, every seven years. Well, it's only been four years since Draperies & Window Coverings was "redecorated," but we thought it time to take computer mouse in hand (so long pen and paper) and propel the magazine's graphic image front and center into the emergence of a new millennium.
Our redesign of Draperies & Window Coverings underscores the significant power of design and its ability to make space (in this case, limited to that which is on a page) more functional and productive to the people who use it. We've introduced new trend-setting colors, attractive areas of white space, more readable typefaces and other graphic elements to make the magazine enticing and more contemporary in nature. What we've done is actually a makeover; while the packaging may have changed, you will still find the same high quality, informative content that you've come to rely on from D&WC throughout its 17-year history. However, because it is presented in a more usable format, we think you will find navigating through the magazine easier. Our respect for your time has prompted us to place a high priority on graphics that allow you to identify articles and subject matters of interest as conveniently as possible. Also in the not-too-distant future will be the unveiling of the redesign of our on-line resource, DWCdesigNET. This Web site is a tremendously popular one with consumers and window coverings professionals alike averaging 190 new visitors each day during the past month alone. Earlier this year, we launched a new searchable database format for the directory information included on this site. Up next are new graphics featuring state-of-the-art Web technology. "The only constant is change," someone once said. Certainly the window coverings industry lends truth to that credence. But you have our promise that one thing won't change: our dedication to you and to the industry we have served for nearly two decades. So let us know what you think about the new Draperies & Window Coverings. Call, write or fax the editorial offices at the numbers or address listed below or e-mail us at: redesign@dwcdesignet.com.
