The long-held belief that "no man is an island" may seem a somewhat grand and lofty ideal when applied to the interior fashions field.

But like any popular adage, its widespread appeal lies in its truth..

For example, how often do you walk into a room that has only window coverings? Or only carpet? Only tables? Only chairs?

Not often, if ever, because the room with only one interior fashion element wouldn't work well, if at all, for its occupants. The success of any winning room design is the combination of all the furnishing elements that comprise it.

In today's competitive marketplace, few businesses can afford to go it with a lone product line; rather it's those who have successfully combined related merchandise that are taking the biggest strides in growth.

If you're a manufacturer, you strive to offer multiple product lines to be a single source supplier to your customers. Even if your product line is in a specialized field, such as vertical blinds, you most likely offer fabric and PVC, groover-style vanes, headrails and components, etc.

If you're a fabricator or distributor, you also offer multiple lines to deliver the benefits of a single source service. You also probably carry a number of different brand names and price points to further emphasize your ability to satisfy a variety of customer needs.

For retailers, you know best that today's consumers don't have time to shop multiple specialty stores. They want a dealer who can provide it all -- window, wall and floor coverings, plus related accessories.

At Draperies & Window Coverings, we are facing many of the same market forces. We know you don't have time to read numerous trade magazines -- that's why we strive to deliver it all: the fashion, product, management, marketing and industry news you need to make informed business decisions. And though window coverings are still a top priority, we won't jeopordize your business by offering a viewpoint that's been affected by blinders. We promise to deliver informed coverage about all the important trend and business information from not only the window coverings industry, but related interior fashion fields as well.

After all, your success -- and ours -- depends on it. We're in this together -- for 15 years now and counting!
