Get Ready for D&WC
Mark your calendars: On February 28, 2008, the Southern Design & Workroom Conference begins.
The what? Is that another new industry conference?
Yes and no. Back in October 2006 Draperies & Window Coverings completed the purchase of the Custom Home Furnishings Educational event with the mission to build upon and continue the solid foundation created by Cheryl Strickland. That part has not changed and isn’t new. We presented the 15th Custom Home Furnishings Conference & Trade Show in mid-February 2007 in Charlotte, NC, and it was a rousing success. As in the past, it centered on a solid curriculum of 50-plus educational seminars led by top-notch industry experts with a two-day vender exhibit hall, networking opportunities, product demonstrations and more. Just last month, D&WC presented the 16th Custom Home Furnishings Conference & Trade Show in Valley Forge, PA. It, too, was a great success with 50-plus seminars (many brand new!) quality instructors (some new!) and more venders than past shows there (that means many new ones!). A full report on the conference with photos will be published next month.
So what’s new is more than just the name change, but let’s go over that. The Design & Workroom Conference clearly defines the market this learning opportunity aims at. Creating and fabricating custom window treatments is the backbone of this industry and its future. By emphasizing these two important elements in the name, we’re continuing our mission to present a comprehensive and increasingly valuable learning experience to a growing number of attendees.
The name Design & Workroom Conference also clearly identifies and differentiates this event from any others. (Design & Workroom Conference = D&WC—get it?) Draperies & Window Coverings created The World of Window Coverings™ shows and has produced more than 70 events, both large and small. Our Trade Show & Education Division has experience in every aspect of designing, organizing and operating these events. Peggy Thorsen and Jenny Burgess are hard at work now putting together the schedule and seminar program for our next event.
So come February 28 to March 2, 2008, the Knoxville Convention Center, Knoxville, TN, will be home for new opportunities to learn new information, network with new industry professionals and meet new vender suppliers at D&WC’s Design & Workroom Conference.
