NAZARI PROMOTED TO HUNTER DOUGLAS VP,SENIOR DIRECTOR OF NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Hunter Douglas, Upper Saddle River, NJ, has announced the promotion of Andrew Nazari, Ph.D., to the position of Vice President, Senior Director of New Business Development. Nazari’s areas of expertise include behavioral science of the manufacturing workforce, plant supervision, manufacturing operations and management strategies, production planning and simplifications.
Previously he served as Director of Fabricator Engineering Services.
Since joining Hunter Douglas 10 years ago, Nazari has managed numerous special assignments involving transitioning new acquisitions of plants and processes into Hunter Douglas, as well as consulting with most of the company’s manufacturing divisions on layout, efficiencies, personnel development and new business start-up projects that he has worked on for more than a year.
Nazari has more than 20 years of experience in operations management and engineering. Prior to joining Hunter Douglas, he served as Manufacturing Operations Manager for Kurt Versen Co., a leading manufacturer of commercial point source lighting in Westwood, NJ. His writings have been published in numerous technical newsletters and engineering manuals.
BUTLER NAMED TO LEAD STEVENSON VESTAL SALES, MARKETING
Stevenson Vestal, Burlington, NC, has announced that Jim Butler has assumed the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company. Butler will oversee all sales and marketing initiatives and well as supervise the company’s sales, customer service and turnkey services teams.
Butler comes from an established career in the automotive industry, most recently as vice president at Westcott Automotive Group. He is an involved community leader having taken active roles on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America, Old North State Council, as a board member on the Alamance Citizens for Education and as the 2006 campaign chairman for United Way of Alamance Country, NC.
WA HONORS SALYER WITH 60TH ANNIVERSARY ALLMAN AWARD
The Wallcoverings Association (WA) has awarded Ken Salyer, Jr., the industry’s highest honor, The Justin P. Allman Award. The 60th anniversary of this award will be celebrated and presented at the Allman Reception and Awards Banquet, honoring Salyer’s efforts within the industry, on February 6, 2007, at the WA Annual Convention. This year’s convention, open only to WA members, will run from February 3 to 6 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club, Marco Island, FL.
Salyer is the founder of TRI-KES Wallcovering Source in Dallas, TX. He has been a part of the wall coverings industry for 26 years—since he was a sophomore at Texas A&M in College Station. A family friend and mentor, Jim Hixon, owned a business that sold mini-blinds, ceiling fans and fabrics. Hixon set up Salyer with supplies and a line of credit to begin his own retail business selling the same items. He later added wallpaper to his product offering.
In 1993, Salyer founded TRI-KES Wallcovering Source, which began as a small-pocket regional distributor with five people and since has grown to 48 team members, including partners Jorn Petersen and Rick Hickman, and has turned into a super-regional distributor. Together with two strategic partners, D.L. Couch Wallcovering Source and Eykon Wallcovering Source, the three companies jointly cover distribution in the entire United States.
During Salyer’s tenure in the industry, he has served on the WA board of directors for several years, including terms as the Convention Chairman and President of the organization.
