In Recognition of . . .
We have to admit we got a big kick out of the “thank-you” we received from Bruce Heyman and the staff at Metropolitan Window Fashions! Heyman was named Draperies & Window Coverings’ first-ever Retailer of the Year in October, and we wanted to make sure we got a photograph of him with the award. We got one! (That’s him, front row, fourth from left.)
Regular readers might remember that back in the February 2007 issue when we formally announced the Retailer of the Year recognition, we wrote, “Workrooms—don’t be discouraged! There is something special just for you in the works—stay tuned!” Well, here it is: Not just one, but two opportunities for recognition.
First, we’d like to announce the Workroom Product Innovation Award to acknowledge the talented efforts of individuals and companies who create new products or new techniques that help workrooms fabricate beautiful window coverings better, faster, easier.
Get your ideas and submissions to us as soon as possible—we’ll announce the winner at the D&WC network dinner at the Southern Design & Workroom Conference in Knoxville, TN, on Friday, February 29, 2008! My full contact information is directly to the right of this column.
Second, we’re announcing our Workroom of the Year Award. Just as with our Retailer of the Year, we’re looking for the workroom owner that best personifies the workroom industry in quality of products fabricated, dedication to the industry, personal touch with clients, years of service and community involvement. An official application or nomination form will available soon on www.DWConline.com, so check often. We’ll announce the winner of the first-ever Workroom of the Year Award in fall 2008!
Time after time, we’re impressed with the number of great individuals doing some great things in this industry, and it has been one of our goals at D&WC to call attention to their efforts. These latest awards are part of that idea. Best of luck to all!
