Michael Payne Keynotes
Next Custom Home Furnishings Conference
Meet the “Designing for the Sexes” host.
Draperies & Window Coverings is very pleased to have top, nationally known designer Michael Payne as the keynote speaker at the 16th Custom Home Furnishings Conference & Trade Show to be held October 4 to 7 at the Valley Forge Convention center, Valley Forge, PA. Payne’s presentation at the conference is sponsored by Exciting Windows! a national brand of professional shop-at-home window decorating service for which Payne is a spokesperson.
Payne’s keynote will be presented during lunch on Thursday, October 4, offering an excellent opportunity for designers, decorators, workrooms and retailers to attend and meet Payne in person and have the chance to have their photographs taken with him.
As the host designer of HGTV’s “Designing for the Sexes,” Payne works as a mediator in helping husbands and wives solve their decorating dilemmas. His talent is rooted in the customer service philosophy, and he describes his approach as making friends with his clients by listening carefully to their needs, respecting their budgets and following through with beautiful finished products.
Originally from England, Payne obtained a degree in physics and mathematics at Southampton University. After 10 years in the computer industry, during which time he was transferred to the United States, he pursued a career in interior design and graduated from the interior design program at UCLA in 1980.
THRILLED AND IMPRESSED
Payne’s relationship with Exciting Windows! began last year when one of its members, Dian Garbarini, owner of Designs by Dian, Mission Vielo, CA, struck up a conversation with him during a recent window coverings expo. After learning that Garbarini was an Exciting Windows! certified consultant, Payne took her to task and asked her to design window treatments throughout his own home in Los Angeles.
Admitting that window coverings were always the difficult part of the job for him, Payne handed that entire job over to Garbarini. “Not only was he thrilled with the beautiful window fashions she created, he was equally impressed by the service Dian provided,” explains Steven Bursten, president and CEO of Exciting Windows! “Michael specifically found the Exciting Windows! 21 Points of Peerless Customer Service to be very compatible to his particular style of doing business, as well.”
