FIT HOLDS HOPKINS WITH OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Marv Hopkins, president and CEO of Hunter Douglas, Upper Saddle River, NJ, will receive The Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) Outstanding Achievement Award at the school’s annual Home Products Development Breakfast scheduled for April 23, 2007, at Cipriani’s 42 Street in New York City, NY.
“I’m honored to be receiving this recognition from The Fashion Institute of Technology, a school positioned at the nexus of commerce and creativity, where Hunter Douglas always strives to be,” Hopkins said.
In his 21 years with Hunter Douglas, Hopkins has played a key role in transforming the company from an aluminum blind supplier into an industry recognized innovative designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom window fashions. Hopkins was appointed president and COO in 1994 and assumed the additional duties of CEO in 1995. He is responsible for the company’s 43 divisions and more than 9,000 employees in the United States and Canada (see D&WC March 2003, page 28).
LOWENSTEIN NAMED ECLIPSE SHUTTERS' BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Eclipse Shutters, Atlanta, GA, has added Tom Lowenstein as its business development manager. In assuming this new role, he will be responsible for all national training programs for fabricators and dealers.
Originally from New Orleans, LA, and currently living in Sarasota, FL, Lowenstein previously was with Vista Products, Inc. and has more than 14 years of experience in the window fashions industry. He brings extensive shutter experience in customer service, production, sales and product training to his new post.
MALONE PROMOTED TO HUNTER DOUGLAS VP CORPORATE MARKETING PROGRAMS
Hunter Douglas, Upper Saddle River, NJ, has announced the promotion of Norm Malone to vice president, corporate marketing programs. Previously he was director of marketing programs.
Malone is responsible for the development and management of all Hunter Douglas corporate marketing programs, including dealer incentive, co-op and business-building programs, as well as consumer promotions. He oversees the development of marketing tools to aid dealers and manages the communication of corporate marketing programs.
“Since joining Hunter Douglas in December 2000, Norm has been instrumental in increasing participation in our important dealer incentive programs, Windows To The World and Windows Of Opportunity,” said Jim Mathews, vice president of corporate marketing.
ROWLANDS JOINS AVENO
Aveno Window Fashions, Inc., Atlanta, GA, has announced that John Rowlands joined the company in February. Rowlands will manage marketing and sales strategy for the Aveno Sophia™ soft treatment collection as well national account sales for the organization.
Rowlands brings more than 25 years of marketing, sales and product development experience to Aveno. Rowlands has held various past positions at Prestige Window Fashions, Turnils North America, Lutron Electronics, Hunter Douglas and Del Mar Window Coverings among others in the industry.
BAMBOO ABBOTT FLORIDA APPOINTS PARKHURST NATIONAL SALES MANAGER
Kellie Parkhurst has joined Bamboo Abbott Florida Corp., Pompano Beach, FL, as the company’s national sales manager. Parkhurst joins the company with 18 years of experience in the window coverings industry with a background in sales and marketing and has extensive product knowledge of hard window treatments.
In assuming her new role, Parkhurst will be responsible for management of the sales team and new product launches. She will support the company’s group of territory sales managers and assist in their efforts to build stronger partnerships with customers. |
