Seems Like Only Yesterday
...
Twenty-five
years ago can seem like such a long way away, especially when you
stop to think of all the things that have happened in the intervening
years. For many of us, it’s most of a lifetime. But it also
can seem like just yesterday. Time does fly when you’re having
fun . . . or when you’re busy . . . or when you’re busy
having fun.
In 1981, Draperies & Window Coverings published its first issue.
It featured an interview with Charles E. Kirsch, president of Kirsch,
whose portrait graces the cover. Created with the mission to provide
news, information and advice to help the drapery and window coverings
dealer operate more successfully, D&WC has carried on non-stop
since then. Our covers continue to feature the people who make this
a profitable and better industry for all, from the independent dealers—both
large and small—to the recognized industry leaders. They are
examples of how things can, and should, be done. Our decorating
experts continue to show how to meet and exceed the needs of customers
offering solutions to problems and perspectives on creating the
right look with the right accessories and putting it all together.
Our business experts continue to offer guidance for managing a business
profitably and operating in professional and exemplary fashion.
Our advertisers each month continue to showcase the newest product
innovations, style trends, features and programs to help our readers
offer the best, sell more and continue to grow.
As we celebrate our 25 years of publishing in 2006, we also rededicate
ourselves to continue being the magazine for interior decorating
professionals. You’ll notice that as you page through each
issue this coming year that we’ve spruced up a bit and added
a few things here and there. You see, we’ve been busy, too,
and we’ve had some fun. Before you know it, another 25 years
will just fly by!
